Congress enacted the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to reform the health care insurance market and simplify the health care administrative processes. As a Medicaid Provider and covered entity, you will be required to comply with HIPAA EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and Privacy Regulations. Entities covered by HIPAA (so called "covered entities") must comply with the HIPAA EDI and Privacy regulations.
